Description: This honeysuckle has opposite, smooth margined leaves, 2.5-7.5 cm in length, and taper to a point. Pairs of yellow, tubular flowers, approximately 2.5 cm in length, are replaced by pairs of slightly joined red berries.

Although in some ways similar to bracted honeysuckle, red twinberry is smaller, and the yellow flowers lack the bracts so evident on the bracted honeysuckle.
