Description: This carpet like shrub thrives at high elevations. It prefers moist subalpine and alpine meadows. The twigs are covered with wart-like glands. The almost circular leaves are sharply toothed and between .5 and 1.5 cm in size. Their texture is leathery. The cone-like catkins are up to 1 cm long and remain upright on the branch.
