Description: This common shrub can be easily identified by its typical birch-type leaves. They are dark green and sharply toothed. The reddish branches are covered with shiny, resinous glands. The leaves grow in an alternate manner and are 2-5 cm long. Like all birch, they bear small cone-like catkins.
