The leaflets are alternately arranged, and 1-2 cm long. Often, the three outer leaves will be joined at the base in a fan like arrangement. The linear leaflets are slightly fuzzy on both sides, and pointed at each end. There is no visible leaf-stalk where they join the compound leaf. The yellow flowers, approximately 1-2.5 cm in diametre occur either singly, or in small groups at the end of branches. It is also a common ornamental shrub. The flowers bloom all season, and into early fall. The bark is brown.
