Description: This common fern occurs on both sides of the Continental Divide, but is more common on the eastern slopes where it is commonly seen growing from the moss along rocky slopes exposed to sunlight. It is a rough looking fern with the leaflets more widely spaced than many other fern species. It is commonly found on sandstone and quartzite as opposed to limestone. The leaflets are covered in smooth, white hairs.
