Habitat: Montane Marshes
Height: Up to 60 cm
Description: The rushes are similar in appearance to the innumerable sedges, but can be distinguished by their round, hollow stems ('rushes are round, while sedges have edges'). The wire rush grows in wet, marshy areas at low elevations. It has a rough tufted flower head which grows along one side of the stem along the upper part of the stem. The stem is largely leaf free, but may have a few narrow leaves near the base.
