Habitat: Montane to Subalpine
Height: Up to 60 cm
Description: Fleabanes look very similar to the Asters. Our most common purple fleabane, the showy fleabane has many blue-purple petal-like ray florets, each with tiny teeth at the tip. The central disk is yellow. The leaves are primarily basal, paddle shaped with smooth margins. Several smaller, alternate, clasping leaves grow along the stem. Anther blue or purple aster, the smooth fleabane may have several flowers atop a single stem as opposed to the single flower (rarely more than one) of the showy fleabane.
