Blue or Purple Flowers ( Five Petals )
Flax Family (Linaceae)

Wild Blue Flax
Linum lewisii

Season: June-September
Habitat:
 All Elevations
Height:
 Up to 60 cm

Description: This delicate plant seems to outlast the blooms of all of its neighbours. It appears in mid June and blooms well into September. Each flower though, lasts barely a day before blowing away in the breeze. The next day, another bloom opens. It is rarely mistaken for any other plant. The long, thin stem waves freely in the slightest breeze. The short leaves are linear, alternate and smooth margined. The five petaled blue flowers have a yellow centre, and are 1-2 cm across.
