Jacob's Ladder/Showy Jacob's Ladder
Polemonium pulcherrimum

Season: Summer
Habitat:
 Montane to Subalpine
Height:
 5-25 cm

Description: This pleasant flower can be easily distinguished by its fern-like leaves and cluster of bluish-purple, yellow centred flowers. The leaves grow in basal clumps, each one sporting a large number of small leaflets. The name is taken from the regular arrangement of these leaflets, almost resembling the rungs of a ladder. The flower stems rise from the basal clump of leaves. A few small leaves grow from the stem. The flowers grow in small groups at the end of the stem. Each bluish bloom has five petals with a yellow centre, almost resembling a forget-me-not.
