Pink or Red Flowers
(
Everlastings )
Composite Family (Compositae)
Rosy Pussytoes
Antennaria microphylla
Season: Spring/Summer
Habitat: Montane Dry Woods
Height: 1-14 cm
Description: The fuzzy pink flower-head of the pink pussytoes makes it easy to identify. The plant is often overlooked for more showy flowers, but is worth looking for. The stem is trailing and woody, periodically branching to form an erect stem. The leaves are linear in nature, and somewhat hairy. They grow alternately along the stem, terminating in a pink, fuzzy compound flower-head. Like all composites, the individual flowers are very small, combining to form a large flower-head resembling several fuzzy toes. The young flowers are often nodding, becoming erect with age.
