Description: This tall sedge is rarely confused with any other plant. It is a tall sedge, often reaching as much as 250-300 cm in height, with a loose, brown seed cluster at the top. Some sources refer to it as S. validus. The long stems can be used to weave baskets and other useful items. The narrow leaves tend to be near the base. The plant is topped with a loose cluster (umbel) made up of hairy, egg-shaped seed clusters. Look for it in slow moving water in the montane.
