Butter-and-eggs/Yellow Toadflax
Linaria vulgaris

Season: July/August
Habitat:

Description: This common roadside and field wildflower brightens up the late summer landscape. It has linear, smooth-margined, alternate leaves. Although it has the reputation as an introduced weed, it has beautiful yellow and white flowers that remind one of snapdragons, also in the figwort family. The white or light yellow flowers occur in a dense spike. They have two lips and a long spur. Inside the flower, a bright yellow pouch almost closes the tubular entrance to the flower.
