White Flowers ( Five Petals with Violet-like Flowers )
Violet Family (Violaceae)

Kidney-leaved Violet
Viola renifolia

Season: Early June to Late July
Habitat:
 Montane Moist Woods
Height:
 Up to 10 cm

Description: This tiny violet is often missed, but makes for a pleasant discovery. It is much smaller than the western Canada violet (V. canadensis), and so doesn't scream out for attention. It has several shiny green, toothed, basal leaves, which are shaped like a heart without the point. The single white violet rises slightly above the leaves. It can be easily identified by the purple veins on the lower petal. It lacks the yellow found on the western Canada violet (see previous).
