White Flowers ( Five Notched Petals )
Pink Family (Caryophyllaceae)

Long-stalked Chickweed
Stellaria monantha

Season: June/July
Habitat:
Montane on both sides of Continental Divide
Height:
 Up to 20 cm

Description: Looking like a typical chickweed, this plant represents the second main Genus of the chickweeds, Stellaria. Like the similar mouse-eared chickweed (see previous), it has 5 notched petals, but in this case, they are so deeply cleft that it appears that there are actually 10 individual petals. The leaves are primarily basal, with a few opposite pairs growing along the short stems. They are linear, pointed, smooth-margined and light green in colour.
